Rib Fest

Today we went to the annual Washington Township Rib Fest, even though only 1/3 of the Peabody family even eats ribs... The weather was nice (at least in the shade) and Emmie enjoyed the smells and sounds of the event. She particularly enjoyed looking up at the tall trees as they swayed in the wind!




Emmie's enjoying the cool shade provided by good ol' Pops! Apparently Mommy is not so good at the whole "block the sun using only your height" thing, hehe...










"So are these the ribs everyone's talking about? I'm not sure what the big deal is... maybe I need more BBQ sauce!"

Here's a shot of Emmie trying on the Winnie the Pooh hat that Jenny and Ryan got her a while ago... it's starting to fit her and she seems to like it :)

[I was advised by a certain someone to indicate here that She did not participate in picking this outfit for Emmie... I maintain that the outfit is still cute, notwithstanding the fact that it doesn't really match.]












Emmie's getting pretty good at holding her neck up; here's a shot of her sitting on Daddy's lap. Obviously Dad's funny voices and silly faces are already becoming boring...

Profile in Friendship: Elliot the Elephant

He's blue, he's got four dangly legs, and he's tasty. He's Elliot the Elephant, one of Emmie's closest companions. Elliot has been with Emerson since the beginning, shaking and making noises to keep her entertained and occupied. Elliot was the first thing that Emmie really figured out how to grab and hold onto; he quickly became one of Emmie's favorite things to snack on.

Emmie's Room

We're starting to reach the end of the boxes that need unpacking, and so things are starting to fall into place. One room that we've tried to focus on is Emmie's room; we have finished painting it and are finally ready to show it to all of you! Here are some pictures:

This is our "arts & crafts" wall, featuring not only a checkerboard paint job, but also some custom frames and matting done by Mommy. Emmie's changing table and swing are both visible.

Mallrats

We recently took Emmie to the downtown mall, and she had quite a good time. She picked up a sweet pair of shades--pink, of course--and enjoyed looking at all the weird mall-people.

Putting the Mmm in Moo

Emerson is starting to get proficient at grabbing things placed in her lap. She's also getting good at bringing her hands up to her mouth. Combine the two and you get a stuffed-animal-eating monster! Here's some shots of Emmie playing with "Hamburger" Patty the Cow:

Happy Daddy's Day!

Today was Daddy's first Father's Day, so Emmie celebrated by wearing a "I Love Daddy" shirt... She also left Daddy a present in her diaper, but he decided one gift was enough!











Emmie's excited to have Daddy hold her, and she even gave him a big smile ;)

Emmie's Book Review: "spots and dots"

Today the Peabodies went to the local library to get new membership cards and to check out some books for Emmie. After walking around the Juvenile Picture Book section (with Daddy getting weird looks any time he strayed too far away from Mommy and Emmie), we settled on a couple of easy readers for Emmie. After Emmie spent some time reading, she gave me the following book review:

Synopsis: A book of spots, with some dots as well. Occasionally some lines make an appearance, but only briefly and they are not relevant to the main plot.

Cruisin' Pics

It seems like we've had to do quite a bit of running around lately, getting stuff for the new house, driving back down to the old apartment, etc. This has meant that Emmie has had to spend a lot of time riding in the car, but on the plus side we've gotten lots of cute pics of her. Here are a couple:

Profiles in Friendship: Aah! the Monkey

Today's post is one of several that will cover the various friends in Emmie's life. Aah! the Monkey is Emmie's best friend and confidant. If you're wondering about the name, Emmie chose it herself - she'll get a chance to rename everyone once she learns some consonants! Aah! the Monkey lives on Emmie's jungle mat, where he sits and listens to everything Emmie has to say. Emmie will lay there and just stare at him, and often smiles at him as well. She also makes lots of interesting noises towards him, so we figure she's just telling him all of her secrets. (If only we could get him to talk...)



Here's a shot of Emmie interacting with Aah!... He often calms her down when she gets upset.
