More Snow Day Fun

It snowed again and this time Emerson and Delaney were prepared for the cold. All Emerson wanted to do was go sleding and daddy was the lucky one who got to pull her through the neighborhood.

This was lap one of about 20

Pretty picture of the snow

I know what you are thinking... Why is daddy pulling Emerson and having to hold Delaney? Where's Mommy??
She was shoveling the driveway :(

Whee!!!!!!!!!!

Ignore the people in the picture and look at what a beautiful shoveling job mommy did!

Snow Day!

It has been very cold here lately and we have had a few snow days. Emerson was so excited to get outside and play. Delaney had no idea that it got this cold outside.

Lets do this!!

Tastes like water...

Wow... this isn't so bad!

I changed my mind. Snow in the eyes is not fun.

When is it summer again?

Nom-Nom...

We've started trying to get Delaney to eat solid foods. We're starting with "delicious" pureed vegetables, which have been less than a hit:

Here Laney's providing us with her usual reaction - not a big fan!

On the plus side, her kung-fu skills are rapidly improving. Here she karate chops a vicious spoonful of peas.

Pictured: Delaney. Not pictured: recently-eaten vegetables making an encore appearance.

So of course, we thought we'd let Emmie help with the feedings. At first things seemed to be going well...

But then.... well, not so good. But at least she's trying!

Treat or Treat!

We've been on a whirlwind trick-or-treating journey around here, going from Bloomington to the local park to our own neighborhood in search of tasty candy. Here are some pictures of the fun:

Here's Laney in her chicken costume - she stayed toasty warm despite the cold weather we've been having...

Here's Pirate Emerson - one of the cutest pirates on the seven seas...

Emmie lead us a bit off road, but she always knew where the candy was...

Here's Delaney getting a hunger in her belly for some sweets!

Happy Halloween!

Munch-Munch

After last week's feasting on Emmie's hand, we thought maybe Delaney was ready for some real food. So rice cereal it is! (Not the most exciting choice, but it's what we have to start with).

First few bites - so far so good....

Bird's eye view of the chomping.

Hmmm... a moment of indecision. Will she like it?

Survey says.... No!

Suzy... We meet again!

As many of you may or may not recall, Emerson first met Suzy the turtle back in September of 2008. They formed a great friendship and Emmie likes to go back and visit periodically. Suzy never minded letting Emmie sit on her head, but she is starting to regret that decision as Emmie gets heavier. Let's revisit our past rendez-vous with Suzy.

Emerson's first visit to Suzy

Her second visit 6 months later weighing a few pounds more

At her most recent visit Suzy wasn't expecting her to weigh 10 pounds more than the last time she visited. Suzy needed a couple aspirin after this picture was taken.
Emmie decided that it would be okay to let Laney meet suzy:

"This is much more like it!!"

The other white meat...

As Delaney becomes more outgoing, Emmie has become more interested in playing with her. One of her favorite things to do right now is give her hand to Delaney and let her munch on it.

"MMM... so this is what a knuckle sandwich tastes like!"

"Wait a minute - I didn't say you could have the whole arm..."

"Well, I suppose you can *try* to eat my arm..."

"Munch munch munch..."

"How about some rump roast?"

Pumpkin Patch Day

Earlier today we headed over to the local orchard for it's annual pumpkin festival. Here are some pictures:

Emmie was excited to go the pumpkin patch. Delaney was confused. The hat didn't help.

Daddy teaches Laney the finer points of choosing a pumpkin. Maybe he should start by selecting an orange one.

Emmie posing for the camera, enjoying the gentle 25+ mph gusts...
The pumpkin collecting team surveys their haul.

Emerson enjoying her apple. And making a goofy face.

That's more like it.

Delaney wanted an apple too.... She has the right technique, just not the right (or left) teeth.

Heritage Festival

Last weekend was the annual Avon Heritage Festival, which is when everyone comes out to the park to celebrate Avon's rich cultural history. Or eat hot, fresh mini-donuts. Mostly I think it's about the donuts. Here are some pictures:

Apparently Avon was founded by a group of petting zoo operators, judging by the collection of farm yard animals. Emmie enjoyed petting the donkey.

The goat, on the other hand, seemed a bit scary. So we just watched it eat the grass...

Finally, we got to the mini donuts stand. Well worth the weight, if you know what I mean.

Delaney tried to figure out how exactly to convince us that she was ready for her own mini donut...

Finally, we let Emmie burn off some energy at the playground while the rest of us wondered why we ate so many donuts. Such fun :)

Pajama Party

I recently bought the girls matching PJs and they love wearing them at the same time. Whenever Emmie sees me put them on Laney she asks where hers are :)

This book again?
