Girl meets cake...

To end today's festivities, Emmie finally got her birthday cake. She was very dainty and carefully ate just a little bit of it, being sure not to get any icing on herself or anything else... NOT!

Emmie was puzzled at first, unsure of what she was supposed to do with her cake...

Then she tasted it. Suddenly it all became clear...

Fueled by sugar, the rampage was well underway at this point.

The sugar rush hit its high at this point... Emmie kept laughing and pointing at everything.

Bath time was quite a challenge, as you might have expected... looks like we missed a spot :) Also, the bath water turned pink.

Emmie: Zoo, I love you!

For Emmie's birthday, we took her to the zoo. She had a fun time looking at all the animals, and even got to pet a couple! Here are some highlights:



Here's Emmie scoping the wild savannahs of Indianapolis. Yes, we made her wear this hat for 90% of the day.


The Indy zoo also has a small petting zoo, so Emmie got to reach out and touch a few animals. She was a little suspicious of the goat, though. I think it had something to do with his beard... or should I say "goatee", hehe...




You can see Emmie's quite happy to have the hat off for a minute.



Here is Emmie's impersonation of the baboons she was just watching clean each other... I guess Mommy's cheek needed some attention :)

Birthday Baby!!

Today is Emmie's birthday! We let her open her presents this morning, and she had quite a bit of fun, as you can see from the photos below. Thanks everyone for the gifts!

We're really excited to take her to the zoo later today, and to let her eat her birthday cake, so stay tuned... more pictures will be here later :)

The life of a bubble

Some people think it is cute watching babies pop bubbles... but what about the poor bubbles? I mean, really, they basically show up, start flying around with all their little bubble friends, and then suddenly tiny little hands start squishing them. And the whole time the bubbles are getting popped, the last thing they hear is a baby's maniacal laugh.

Suzy the Turtle, six months later...

As you may or may not recall, little Emmie first met Suzy the Turtle back in September. Now that the weather is finally starting to show signs of improving, we had a chance to visit the park again. While Ol' Suzy may have stayed the same size, somebody else has gotten a *tad* bit bigger:

Here's Emmie now. Note the lack of leaves on the trees. Also note the general lack of interest displayed by all.

It's hard to see how much Emmie's grown until you look at comparisons like this :)
